Physical Characters Of Doves

 

Doves are small, stocky birds that are related to pigeons and are recognized for their low, sweet cooing. Some are native to the United States, such as the mourning dove, 

while others, such as the white-winged dove, were imported by human immigrants. Each species of dove has its own distinct qualities, 

yet they all share a number of characteristics in terms of appearance, mating, and feeding habits.

All doves, whether common ground doves or exotic Incas, have small heads in comparison to their bodies and small, 

narrow bills. They have short legs and walk with their heads bobbling back and forth as if their feet are tender. These birds have fairly long tails with distinct color patterns that aid in species identification.
